What's your favorite Parachromis species?

What is your favorite Parachromis species & what is it that makes it your fave??

I'll start.

Even though they seem to be the most common Parachromis, the Jag is mine. I really love to see a full grown male Jaguar with a perfect spot pattern, purple sheen, blue edged fins and red/orange eyes. They're simply spectaular. Another plus is that they're tough enough to hold their own but typically not overly aggressive so can be kept in a community cichlid tank. But my favorite part about Jags is how predatory they are by nature. Since getting my Dovii I notice that even though they're larger and have bigger teeth, they just don't have that predatory "I want to eat you" nature of the Jag. So I guess in conclusion, the Managuense is the most common because it's the coolest. Don't get me wrong, I still love the **** out of my Dovii.

There is nothing like an Adult Jag as you said. They are perfect. I love my Pair of Mannies so much! They treat each other with such love a compassion for one another. He doesn't fight with her and same back to him. They are presistant breeders and can be gentle at times. Also they can also cop an attitude just as fast. Very personal fish Oscars yeah right these are the fish with the biggest personality towards their owners.

Though I still LOVE MY DOVII. Mega cool.

I've gotta say either dovii or those loisellei from La Ceiba. I have both growing out right now, and they are the most aggressive fish I've ever seen at such a small size. By the way, I've been feeding them jag fry.

I'd have to say Parachromis Motaguensis! I first saw Ewok's over a year ago had to get one! I searched high and low locally for one.... found a female but no male. Ewok then decided to sell his pair and I jumped at the opportunity.... by far my most prized/loved cichlid! Not as common as some of the other Parachromis's, esp. the Managuensis..... my Mota is hands down my favorite.... even over my Beani!

Oh I forgot about how completely they bond with one another once paired. My former F0 female and tank bred male pair were exactly as you described. Great point. Also as you said, personable and interactive without wanting to kill me like my Dovii does.

Those LaCeiba are so cool and interesting. I really look forward to seeing more of them in the hobby and learning about them.

id have to say my dovii's and then my jags at a very close second i love the dovii's for theyre aggression and personalitys, but the jags have a totally different personality which is cool when they interact with ya , and the colours during breeding is awesome i just watch my jags spawn again

ps my male dovii's tank just overflowed because i was distracted by this site lol

Parachromis Dovii, just cause they eat babies though.
If it weren't for eating babies I'd say Loisellei!
Just cause they look amazing.

mota is my favorite, although I do like to see some of the monster jags you guys have. You come across a lot of big jags but not a lot of nice ones. For some reason I've never been a fan of freddies or loisellis whatsoever. I try to stay away from most parachromis though, amphilophus keeps me tied up. I'd like to have a dovii but tankspace is a big issue, instead I got some grammodes. They remind me of dovii a lot.
