im a new fishman but I am a fan of the texas rig :headbang2

rigging it with a 4 inch worm small mouth love it.

so whats your favorite rig?

Depends on what I'm fishing for. I do love the Texas rig as well, but if that isn't working for me I usually switch it up to a Spinnerbait or a Buzzbait.

For big pike I like to pull Rattlin' Rapalas, or large Spinnerbaits.

well it really depends on where you are today curly tails were doing it.
I only had a little while to fish cause there where thunderstorms spent most of it with a yum baby brush hog (waist of time) switched to curly tail got one on my second cast it swam under my kayak and took my favorite lure with it. I need to learn better knots

What kind of knots are you tying? What kind of line?

My jig rod, a 7'6" Heavy Daiwa Cielo paired with 2010 Revo STX & 17lb flourocarbon is definitely my funnest rig, nothing quite like setting the hook on a jigfish in 25' of water or pulling one out of a laydown!

Most of the time I am Striped Bass fishing so my standard rig is an Ugly Stk USCA 76 and a 6500c3 ambassadeur rigged with 15 lb P-Line mossy green and a modified Carolina setup with 20 lb Flourocarbon leader. Strangely enough almost every keeper sturgeon I ever got was with this setup. Go Figure.

naaa my knots not the problem I tied it wrong i realized that later tho..
I use palomar now 20 pound palomar.

talking of rigs caught my first pike on a texas rig four inch worm

Wacky rig FTW, I'm still very much a fan of variety and I will use whatever I can catch fish on. But as a favorite and a go-to bait the wacky produces lots of fish -
Edit Try your four inch worm - or better yet a 4 inch stick -o on a wacky rig and compare results. I'd love to hear about it.

i would figure that the wacky would get more bites because it produces more vibrations and fish in murky water are using their lateral lines. ill try it when I get some more worms im down to my last shiny one and its broken.

bad thing with wacky is I dont want my line to snag but I an live with that If I get more fish I usually fish with a kayak so I have yet to loose a lure.

do you people use shiny stuff cause my Dempsey likes shiny stuff so I augured shiny would work on other cichlids.

My favorite color of all time would have to be watermelon seed or some variant, watermelon candy, watermelon red, etc. Fish the wacky weightless and wrap your worms with electrical tape to keep from ripping the hook out on false sets. (just the hooked section) Weightless is the way to go for awesome action and least amount of snags. Check out these hooks too, they are amazing if you can find them in 4 ought size.
