I like Malaysian the best. I was going to buy some grape wood but I had heard that grapewood was possibly toxic. Even if not toxic, a slimy white mold like substance would cover it and constantly need to be cleaned off. Is this true or false?

I've used 2 pieces of grape wood and one got completely rotten and disgusting and I tossed it. The other one is great. Both got white film and so does manzanita but the plecos love that stuff.
