Some of the laws I think are silly. For example...pirahnas are illegal in NY. They cannot survive our winters so the law only exists because of the "danger" factor overblown by the media. There are other species just as likely to bite a person as a pirahna...especially in the saltwater hobby. With that said however, I obey the law and don't keep to seek to fin pirahnas. Other laws however make sense and I fully support them. What I can say about people who do keep illegal species...it's selfesh. It make us all and our hobby look bad and only serves to put more laws and restrictions in place.

Thats a good point.

I go both ways.
On one hand i see no reason for pirahnas to be illegal in most of the states they are illegal.
On the other hand, the huge herds of plecos in florida prove that people can't generally be trusted.
On the third hand there are some species that would be illegal to keep if anybody cared (like ameca splendens, previously endangered, now extinct in the wild) that would be gone from the planet if people didn't keep them.

It's too complicated of an issue to sum up with a single choice for me.

Now if it were a poll as to whether i hate irresponsible fish keepers, i'd say hell yes!

Are Ameca splendens really extinct? I have kept those!

i dont care, manly because there probably isnt an illegal fish that i want and can fit in my tank.

is it wrong to want to own a baby panda as a pet??? :naughty:

in all honestly, everyone breaks the law everyday. how here ever drives the speed limit??? i think it is worse when someone releases a fish into the wild then to want a fish they want to keep in their collection.
