There are about 245 countries on Earth, if you don't like this one you're welcome to live in another.

I JUST WANT SNAKEHEADS, damnit! Stop releasing them and this **** wouldnt be an issue

How come this many people cant vote for POTM?!?!? LOL

It's unfortunate Pacus are illegal in that area, as that really does look rather Pacuish (i'm hardly an expert, but it looks like it's lacking the jaw/muscles of a piranha), i generally enjoy it when a government gets up on it's high and mighty horse like that and then gets shot down due to incorrect information.

My favorite is when a state "fish biologist" catches a Snakehead and thinks it is a Bowfin so releases it...only to get fired for that mistake...

There are of coarse tons of "piranha" caught every year that often are just Pacu. There is a problem with people releasing Pacu so I can understand laws on them in many cases. Laws however really do not seem to stop any of this without Education and an understanding of why those laws (or personal responsibility) are needed..Wildlife agencies have a nasty habit of making new regulations and controls without explaining why, instead they just shove it down your throat. This is an issue and a problem they need to focus on.

However.. if No one wants more regulations or laws on this hobby you as the hobbyist also need to do your part. Illegal behavior and irresponsible uneducated, unethical actions will screw you. You will not be taken seriously by those responsible for this countries wildlife and flora if you continue to act like an immature DB...

Many people seem to be missing the fact that Exotic and invasive species cost this nation and individual states BILLONS of dollars a year to control and have cause serious irreparable harm to some ecosystems. The Aquarium hobby is a vector for the importation, release and proliferation of exotic and invasive species in North America. You are under a microscope in this hobby and your actions will determine how this works out.

Keep in mind you do not have a right to keep these fish it is a privilege and this privilege can be taken away or restricted in any manner that the government sees fit.

Let's trade, I trade you my Canadian Citizenship for your US Citizenship.. Good Deal! you can keep 99% of different kind of fish! ^^

I really dont care. It all depends on how responsible the fish keeper is. Ie, owning an SH and throwing it in a local pond because it got too damn big. As long as he wong do something as irresponsible as that then i am fine.

I have read all the postings to this point in this very important thread. I am impressed with the wide variety of responses and the logical reasoning advanced by so many members.

This is one of the reasons I adopt fish when their owners can no longer keep them. I have 22 Pacu in my new 8000-gallon outdoor aquarium. The expression on the woman’s face tells it all.

Don't really care, but I do admit that I'm jealous from time to time.
