Since I've kept fish since the late 1950s, unless I've sold or given some away, I consider I've killed all the rest.
Must be many thousands.

duanes do you mean they died of old age or do you mean from complications?

I consider any fish you put in a tank, you or I (anyone). will eventually kill. Could be acutely, could be chronically.
When I was a noob, from too few water changes, wrong fish in wrong water parameters, in too small tanks, to bringing in a disease from lack of quarantine, overfeeding, or combining the wrong species together,
or later as time went along breeding compatibility issues, and as more experience teaches, more from old age in a tank.

More losses than wins. I will characterize my wins for any fish that has lived past 15 years. As a result, I've had 6 wins due to old age (15+ years) and those were out of sheer luck. These were a shoal of cory aenus (regular and albino) plus a Brochis splendens and a common pleco.

A toss up are those past 10 years, maybe a handful, like my JD, blood parrot, firemouth, jurupari, clown pleco.

Everything else, like at least 30, were dead due to disease, aggression, poor water parameters, jumping out, etc.

I've personally lost hundreds due to lack of information. Similar to duanes experience.
