What's your win loss record?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don’t have the tenure as the experienced folks but my angel of death status stopped about a 8 months ago. Before that everything I kept died relatively quickly. Been having the best luck with African Cichlids and the BP

Too many to count. If I still have it it is part of the win. The only fish I’ve seen due of strictly age were a betta, some rosy reds, and a giant danio, but I haven’t been doing fishkeeping too long.
Recently everything has been going well, but in the past two weeks a plague of aggression/intestinal parasites is killing my mbunas (conveniently once I started to think about getting rid of them).

When you take into consideration duanes duanes standing in the hobby, and his losses over the years, then it really hits home how extremely difficult and unforgiving our hobby can be. And as if the fish part isn't difficult enough to master it's not even the most important aspect! Arguably the most important part is the water, what's the saying, "it's not about keeping fish, it's about keeping water".

Since I got back into the hobby a few years ago i've been very fortunate/lucky regarding fish losses. My main loss was my chalceus last year, I was grumpy for days after his passing.

Hard to say how many since the late 80s, all I can a lot. Recently lost 3 due to aggression. Sneaky h. Deppi was the culprit. Other than that age. 15 YO convict, 11 YO robertsoni, 10 YO melanura...a few that died of old age. Right now my oldest is a 20 YO clown pleco and 11 YO c. Rostratus. Haven’t had any real disease issues in maybe 20 years.

Hello. I've been into the hobby for only about 2 years and don't quickly run to get more fish after I get settled with one so here's my record (It goes win on left; lose right) :
2-1 BP
2-1 Severums ( Golden & Red-Spotted)
3-1 Bettas
0-2 Bottom Dwellers like Pictus Catfish & Pleco
0-1 Jewel Cichlid
And all victories with keeping my Cichlasoma Dimerus, Angelfish, and Firemouth Cichlid

Too many to remember/list.
Luckily in the decade I’ve been keeping fish, the losses have slowed significantly (in fish I’ve possessed for a while). But accidents happen, and mistakes are definitely still made.

my most recent loss was one of my bichirs, jumped out into an unheated bin (45F water). Also had a spell recently where a couple corydoras got stuck in the tube that directs bubbles from a sponge filter... tube has been removed. Lost a nice little syno cat when I had forgotten to turn the equipment back on after an evening water change (cold), the rest of the fish survived. Yo-yo loach to ich.

I get a lot of my fish secondhand from janky previous owners, horrible conditions, diseases, stressed, stunted, solo fish that need to be in schools/shoals. One tank came with a school of rasbora and black neons, they didn’t handle the breakdown from their old home, and rebuild in my care very well.

my absolute worst luck is neon tetras and pictus catfish.
neons probably 40-50:7
Pictus 8-10:0
