what's your worst purchase

male M. auratus. mean little bastard. wipped out my whole cichlid tank

Mine are eels.. Fire, Tiretrack or Peacock. they will not live.. They are typically dead within 48 hours. Makes no sense to me as I don't have trouble with any other fish but I've bought a total 5 different eels and they all die. They even eat the same day I put them in the tank but when I wake up the next morning they are on their backs.. still trying to figure it out.

I would love to have a nice fire eel but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

I'd have to say my worst buy was a Schomburgk's (hope I spelled it right) leaf fish. Sold to me as a new kinda south american cichlid, I kept it in my cichlid tank with Malawis half its size. The damn thing swallowed three african cichlids in one night !!!

My worst purchase, or shall I say purchases have always been Oscars. I go to lfs and occasionally they will have a nice looking one so I'll buy it. Have had 4 gotten rid of ummm 4.

man I have many many BAD buys, usually and by usually I mean every recallable time, its been something that is definitely not compatible with the things ive already got crammed into my tanks, but ya know sometimes you find that dream fish and HAVE to get it right then before anyone else has a choice, I think my favorite set up was my 75 gal. with 3 gold tinefoil barbs with the words (bite, me, nemo) tattooed on the in with my common snapper, rtc, tsn, planiceps cat, e-cat, parrot fish tattooed red lips and war paint stripes, 3 lmb 4"ish, 4 red-tail cudas, and the piece de resistance the american alligator. those are my worst purchases. please dont flame or send the dnr the fish are sold dead or moved and the gator is no longer in my possession.

No doubt a 5'' RTC that cost me 45$(I just had to have one) ended eating 4 tankmates(2 5''TSNs,1 4'' Royal plec, and 1 5'' Lima shvl nose) on its way to 11'' in 3 months. Just ate and slept. Like a big black and white slug that would leave s#!ts (turds) the size of a cat dropping. I had a 15'' common plec in the same tank that hated the RTC so luckily it was kept in check till I rid myself of that pestilence. I dont know why stores sell them and I know now why hobbyists should not seek them(unless you got a 400+ gal tank or a pond)
