what's your worst purchase

What are they dieing of? Also what are your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH levels. Last is a question I have to ask, did you remember to dechlorinate the water?

I did declorinate the water and when I add water when the level goes low I declorinate it before addition to the tank. The Ph lev is usually close to 6.5, Should it be closer to a balanced level of 7 or Is it better for my extreme mix of fish to have a higher accidity then 7? Honestly I'm a newbie at alot of this so I have no measurement tools for the first 3 of your level questions.

Your ph is okay, and since you dechlor that is not it, I would advise getting the set to do the ammonia, etc, tests, if your filter is not established those levels can climb quickly and kill the fish. That so many hardy fish die off suddenly makes me think ammonia. They showed no symptoms?

stupit convict for my african tank (you live you learn!!!), finally caught him and traded the darn thing in. also a compreccicepts, ate all my fry...... :WHOA:

I've had so many fish, I don't think I can even recall all the bad purchases.

The most recent one though, is buying a trio group of koi, bad idea..... they's definitely more suited for ponds.

Had a few disasters myself. But I have to say the stupidest thing I did was to buy a baby worl fish (about 3") and dump it in my 130g tank with fish almost all over 6" including oscars. We saw it about 5 seconds in the tank...

Filet mignon :)

My worst purchase was my RTC! Yes i love it and its beautiful, I knew they grew fast so i bought it at 2" when the rest of my fish were aroudn 5-6" Make a long story short, 2-3 months later, all the fish were gone in my tank cept for the redtail and oscar. It ate serously over $100 worth of fish. I still have the bastard, its in my 125 know with the big oscars and texas where it can't eat anything, and my 180 is back to normal : )

A siamese fighting fish and an otto.... a retarded siamese fightin fish..... last thing I saw of the otto it was half way in the betta's gob. STUPID BETTA!!! :swear: :swear:

A baby devil scorpion. My brown rhinopias had it in its mouth almost as soon as it hit the water. They were both really small (only about an inch) so I thought they would be fine together.
