what's your worst purchase

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i bot a pirhana, bought a guppy to feed it, the guppy and the piranha lived great together and the piranha wouldnt eat it, the piranha died and the guppy lived for many yrs after with little to no food, looking at buying another piranha

At the moment my Jack Dempsey, because he is so scared! He stresses out all the other fish.

Fishwise I can't think of any bad purchases. But other pets we have 1 chihuahua mini pincher mix for about 2 years before we decided to get him a pal. We purchased another chihuahua mixed puppy. They get along great I think our first Chihuahua couldn't be happier now. This new pup is the cutest little dog but he just wont be house trained! He's about a year old now and still cannot be trusted in the house. I keep threatening to get rid of it but my wife says no way I better not or our other dog will turn up missing too LOL.

A gigantic lobster all it does is eat and hide , when it time for me to sleep they will open the tank lid and roam around the house every morning I have to search for them and put them back in the tank
Their claws are very strong that even if I were to put weights over the cover they still can escape...
Not Soo sure what lobster it was but im sure it's not a crayfish

I was thinking back to when I began keeping fish and remembered a few terrible purchases that I made. This fish looked so cool and with out homework I ordered 4 of them thinking they are the best thing ever. WRONG!!!!! This is the worst deal I ever picked up. Known as the chaka chaka catfish. looks cool but does absolutely nothing. they just sit there. Lesson learned do your homework. :(

Chaka Chaka is Badass!! They do chill alot but its part of their MO.. Ever watch an adult feed??? Sick. Camo'd out, stealth the other fish doesnt even know what hit them

Fly River Turtle... $950 dollars

Almost killed my australian lungfish. Months later I had to trade it away for some Tropical gars.

buying to small of a tank settign it all up and having to buy a bigger one to accomadate. 9 tanks later and alot of money should of just went big from the get go

Oh man.....

Bought a dozen panda cories from PetsMart wanting to breed them. Never did. They didn't do well in my water. After two dozen of them died, purchased from other sources, gave up.

Bought L052s on a whim. Had to set up a RO tank just for them. Sold them later at less than half of their original price.

Bought some L260 fry as a test before I thought seriously about getting zebra plecos. The fry did great. Until I added some oil cats (C. perugaie) and lost all of them minus one, plus 2 of the 3 L260s. Over a $300 lesson.

Over the years lots of smaller breeding projects that never took off. Black guppies. Albino angels. Sterbai cories. Tons of killifish. White cloud mountain minnows, long finned. Petricola synodontis. Blind cave tetras. Multi and brevis and gold occie and pearly occie shelldwellers. Yellow labs and demasoni.

These days I plot ahead a lot, a lot lot lot lot more carefully.
