what's your worst purchase

i was given the wrong sex of two cons so a large white male died.. then as i explained i was a new fish owner with children picking fish, they suggested a betta with my cons and a single pink dyed tetra!!! wtf was wrong with these people.. after the betta got torn to shreds and the con died i immediately looked up EVERY fish and can stand ever going to a lfs store for anything but supplies :( the other male con is my rescue from almost having his whole tail removed from the white con.. he is healthy and happy.. so i have learned that all my horrible experiences something wonderful came from it.. merry xmas all fishloverz
 
tire track eel for 20$ 10inch kinda cheap i guess, nvr ate, nvr dug in sand???, nvr hide in tubes, died in a week
ph7, ammonia 0, temp 83 i dont know what i did wrong but i just didnt eat. tubiflex worms, blood worms, a real worm, guppies, live shrimp NOTHng
 
L.E.D blue light strip off e-bay for my reef tank,had it for a couple of weeks,only on a night to view tank could smell burning.checked every plug,wire,electrical item in the living room to no avail.after a hour could hear a sound like hot metal hitting water,the "cool running" light was melting into the tank,cooling fans in the hood was blowing the burning smell away luckily we found it before going to bed.
decided years ago to buy a ww2 crashed fighter plane ornament that looked cool,it dissolved over a few months wiping out the entire tank apart from my pleco that i still have
 
[h=2]what's your worst purchase[/h]A $3.00 marriage license. LOL! Been keeping fish for a long time. Kept tons of different species. After looking back I would have to say my worst purchase was buying a 3" pacu with 3 silver dollars. Little did I know that 7 years later that little pacu would grow to 26" and weigh about 9 pounds. It took about 2 years to rehome that fish. I was so happy the day I gave that fish away.
 
My personal worst has been my $3.00 common pleco....oh sure he is big and very likeable now, but I still blame him for my rekindling an old addiction. You know the kind. It all starts with a small circular bowl, step it up a notch to a 10...the 20 is so much better...but for only a short time. Wait a minute...the 30... that's it and I mean it....until you see how awesome your buddies 55 is. Holy crap! Are you kidding...what a deal on that 150 and it's and so much bigger than the 125's! 150 is it for me...seriously...NO MORE...but ya know, that 300 fits nicely exactly where that old 150 was. I assure you all that the pleco is quite happy now (as are his tank mates)...they're all probably laughing at me and saying," bet you're glad you didn't get that pacu now...you'd need a really big tank for him" everytime I'm just out of ear shot. The worst purchase? You deside.

idk about that.... simpler fish like tetras are fine usually. Actually my senegal Bichir is from petsmart and shes still just fine... just dont expect the employees to know anything xD
