When people find out I have a fish tank, they go "oh really? How big and what do you have in it?". My response is always "well I have a 240g, with a 2 foot arowana and clown knife that's a little smaller than him, among some other fish." They always react to 240g as being a 'huge' fish tank, but lately as I gaze upon my 1 ton~ case of water in my room, it just seems too small. Anyone else have this problem? I'm still living at home (being 21 of course) and really don't have the room to make anything larger.
Steve... you took the words right out of my mouth. I have a colony of Frontosa in a 215. While it's not too small for them now, I still can't imagine all 9 of them at over a foot long, instead of the 3 of them currently at that size. While my problem may not be that a fish I bought is getting too large for the tank, but rather how can I provide more for this colony and the biotope tank. Considering how many large arrowanas will live out their live in a tank plenty smaller than 240, you've done more with a 240 than what many will for their arrowana. However I understand the urge to give more freedom to the giant beasts we love.

Got a 180 gallon, thought it was going to be the last tank upgrade ever and now looking to buy or build a pond.... :)

When I first got my 75g, I thought it was a good start for a "big" tank. But once I got it home, I already knew I wanted bigger:ROFL:

:iagree:

I'm gonna feel the same way with my 300 as soon as the cichla all get 15"+ but then it will be time to sell a few and just keep a couple.

You can always add a fast growing cat to the mix like a RTC... That will really make your tank seem small.

When i want a new tank i get a fish which will outgrow my current tank and then tell my parents im going to need to upgrade as its immoral to buy a fish which you cant house.

Agreed. People think it sounds so big but when you look at it everyday? Not so much. I mean-it only takes up half the livingroom wall. If it were really big it'd take up the entire livingroom wall, wouldn't it? I get criticized double though because I only have an Oscar, a 4" Chocolate Cichlid and 6 Silver Dollars in mine. That seems to almost offend people.

That would be a 300g if those measurements are right, but I know what you mean. I have two 75s and just found a 300g tank for $100:headbang2 Probaly be upgrading again after that, lol

I agree. I have a 210 and didn't figure I would ever need bigger because I didn't want any big cats. I just bought a 450 because I have too many big cichlids:screwy:
