Those are some of the better looking kelberi I've seen on MFK.

I'm still not convinced that all the fish that came from TUIC are truely kelberi... I think it is a rarer fish within the hobby than everyone believes.

explain boostens? i belive in the cichla spp. it states one of the clear observations in cichla kelberi is the spots on the anal fin and pelvics which his has. maybe they are just not the same variant as yours.

Boosten's looks like a kelberi. I didn't mean to say that none of the fish from TUIC were kelberi but rather, not all of them are. That's not to say that they are not nice fish or common. Most do seem to be exceptionally yellow.

If you look at all the pics that have been posted of kelberi, Boosten's is by far, amongst the nicest. Most others are showing zero spotting on the anal and pelvic fins and only faint spotting on the dorsal, even at sizes up to 10".

i have many things to say. I belive that they are all kelberi like boostens if they are like you said some non-kelberi and some kelberi then thats major -rep on jeff and i am almost sure he wouldnt take the risk or if he did he would state it comes with a risk, forthemore housekeeping for maybe this particluar species may be the tiebreaker between nice and not so nice. It in the genes ofcourse but if its kelberi it will have those genes possibley just late bloom or stressed out so possible no bloom. I also belive that these are 100% WC the behavior in my kelberis from rapps are much more skiddish and wild like then the rest of my "WC" fish. i honestly dont know if it is just kelberi or my tank but they are the only species from all my "WC" that behave like they do. alot goes to this i think but its good that it is discussed.
