When claspers drop, does the growth rate slow down?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
got a female motoro who just wont stop growing, at least 35cms now,
and a male who has been growing slower in comparison,
his claspers went from being non existent to being fullly rolled within 3-4 weeks.
The strange thing it started when i was moving houses and i had the male and female in a small container together, the hormones must triggered something.

since then his been bugging my female but no signs of mating.

But ever since then its just seam like only his claspers are growing,

so i can agree his disk has definitely slowed down since his clappers dropped.

did YOU stop growing when they droped?

Not sure ho this has anything to do with the topic at hand, but yes I stopped growing taller after my balls dropped. Width wise, I have not stopped growing there LOL

Just picked up some fish from another forum member who has 2 marbles together. The male stopped growing at 9in and fully matured, the female is now 16in.

Are you talkin about Duckman's? His male is still young...

Yes but fully matured.... he has another on in the tank but is not matured yet.

BTW congrats on the female....she is so beautiful

i've got a MM male that matured at about 10" or so.. got him together with a MM female. now the female is approx 16"++ and the male is only +-13". Another MM male that i have is about 16" +- is well . matured only after reaching 13"...

That male may be fully mature but there's no way its done growing before its even 2 years old. Should actually be closer to a year and a half. Pretty sure his father was pretty good size as well. They sure do seem to take forever to grow after they mature though.

What a beauty that female is...
I'm definetly very excited. :)

maybe the male is all spermed out and so his claspers hide like a frighten turtle..but i dont think that means they stop growing. i've seen them not matured and still growing before.

how are the rays doing? i miss the female...lol
