When Do the Tiger Barbs Become Snacks?

I voted never. Not to say that they all survive; that school of 17 will be weeded down to the 5-7 biggest, fastest, strongest, and smartest.

I have a 300 gallon tank that was cycled with Tiger Barbs this February then slowly stocked with the fish in my Sig line. The Oscars are approaching 6 months old.

There are currently 17 Tiger Barbs living peacefully in this tank with the Oscars.

Consider this a sort of a "pool" as to when the Oscars figure out that the Tiger Barbs would make a tasty snack.

The winner receives a spot on the MFK Sticker Waiting List.

that's a big tank with a lot of room to run....barbs are fast...
platys can be good tank mates for pirnaha's coz they are fast and the piranha's dont bother running after them and leave them alone waiting for easy food...barrbs are similarly fast....so i dont think ur oscars will bother them

I used to keep Tiger Barbs in a tank with an oscar and some piranhas. A few lasted, but not all.

don't remember. it was actually my roommates tank but I helped pick out and pay for the fish (barracks in the Army). I wanna say it was a 90, or maybe a 5' hundred.

we had a Gar of some type in there also.

the small channel cat we cought was piranha food, though.

I was only around that tank for about 1.5 years, so I'm not sure of the eventual outcome of that tank, except that I sold the Gar to my Lt. for $50.

Edit: didn't know as much then as I know now. in fact, I didn't know anything. just learning on the fly...

Zoe (The White Tiger Oscar) has claimed her first victim. Not a Tiger Barb but the Senegal Bichir. Sucks, I liked that little guy.

He was a slow grower and just didn't grow quick enough. Maybe I can find an 8"er.

Shouldn't be all that hard. Heck i have a 9" senegal here, but of course you live in Omaha and I live about 100 miles away

im going to say never..unless they get into a fight. my oscars are about 5in-6in and they didnt even take notice of the tiger barbs but i took them out just incase
