So my old dovii pair bred before I got rid of them around a year ago. I kept one of their fry and he's about 9-10 inches now. He has spent the last 9 months or so being raised in a 180 cichlid community. He is literally the most docile fish in my tank.

A couple of things. First, I know he will snap at some point and I have multiple large tanks, including one he can be in for life.

Second. When do dovii usually snap and become aggressive? I had thought he would have now. Is he being raised with many of these fish part of the reason why he isn't crazy yet?

I really wish I could go back and edit a question mark to my title. :)

Done. Honestly I am surprised he hasn't yet at that size. Stunning dovii

Thanks for fixing that! I'm surprised too.

*Meant tongue-in-cheek

How dare you endanger those beautiful clowns!!!!

Seriously though you need to be moving him asap, you will be waking up to just a dovii in that tank shortly. Great looking fish

maybe raising him with others has given you a little leverage on the time...but I'd say move him sooner rather than waiting for him to make an example of one of the fish lol.

that's cool, a part of me would want to see how he got on if you left him; since it is awesome they are co-habiting...the other part of me says move him now lol, cause if/when the snap happens, he probably won't need much time at all to eviscerate everything

The fact that he hasn't snapped yet is probably because he was raised with these fish. However that just gave you a little bit of extra time....extra time is up lol. He is gonna just gonna go on a killing spree soon and he could kill all those fish soooo easy. I would honestly move him now, save ur other fish. Also I can't help but reccomend that u pair him up! He is a stunner, gotta keep those good lines going

Mine is around 12 inches. He is aggressive to other fishes, specially other cichlids, but he gets spook easily and hides in his cave when I suddenly appear or make sudden movements....

qguy..waiting for the glass banger to come out :)
