When do you think my dovii will snap?

Great looking fish. He looks like he is smiling in them pics. He is like look at me I wouldn't kill anything promise hehe.

My speculation is that someone else is keeping him in check atm. It's just a matter of him feeling big and dominant. He still looks relatively small. My dovii and jag males usually stop playing nice around 9" standard length. You really should move him asap especially with those decent size loaches before he has a beast mode moment.

That's one of the finer looking Dovii I've seen, really nice. It kind of gave me the chills to see him just hanging out with those Oscars though lol. If you're concerned about the fish and have the space, why not just move him now?

maybe raising him with others has given you a little leverage on the time...but I'd say move him sooner rather than waiting for him to make an example of one of the fish lol.

The fact that he hasn't snapped yet is probably because he was raised with these fish. However that just gave you a little bit of extra time....extra time is up lol. He is gonna just gonna go on a killing spree soon and he could kill all those fish soooo easy. I would honestly move him now, save ur other fish. Also I can't help but reccomend that u pair him up! He is a stunner, gotta keep those good lines going

I was actually thinking since he was raised in a community with other familiar cichlids, he might NOT snap.......there are plenty of Parachromis w/ reputations as killers that live their lives w/ other fish, I had/have several Jags do this. There's no guarantee he will snap

Thanks for the input. I'm keeping a close eye. I'm honestly curious if I just have a more relaxed dovii.

ive had doviis as large as 16-20" commune in community tanks peacefully
without any aggression. so he might never snap only time will tell.
