Hi guys I was wondering when does caribe season begin? I would like to get 20-25 1" caribe to put into my 125 grow out. Once they become a little larger they will all go into my 400 gallon in my basement. Nope you heard me right 400 gallons!! I can't wait. Thanks Kenneth! :)

the season typically starts end of spring/early summer around end of May or around June.

Thanks JP! Outta 25 caribes how many can I expect to lose due to aggression?

Well I'm planning on letting them get a bit of size before I move them to the 400. Or should I just put the 1" into the 400 right away?

Haha that's what I was thinking I would never abuse my fish by cramming them into tanks that are too small. But I should still expect casualties correct?

it's hard to say how many you'll loose due to aggression, many factors can be involved.
my last cariba shoal I started with around a dozen and ended up with 8. I had a total of 25 pygos to start with (wild reds, terns, cariba) in a 180g, when I started to sell off the wild reds and terns I had a total 20 left.
chances are you may end up with 15-20 fish if you start with 25. if you want to end up with 25 in your 400g I would start with 2.5-3 dozen

I guess I'm going to get 2.5 dozens then! Thanks JP. I just have to try to find a very good price on them. Well I guess I just need to catch them right when the season starts for good prices. I just can't wait for them to all grow up and be put into the 400. How long should I wait before moving these guys into the 400?

As soon as they start showing real aggression and the first casualties happen, you should move them.
