I am raising some Fader frys. I was wondering if any members had raise some frys before to know when do they start fading? When can you tell if it's a good potential or not?

It all depends my Red devils faded at 1inch to all the way to 4 inches. My flowerhorn just started to fade and its 5 inches and my other fader did it at 6 inches. I've seen pictures of some fade at 8 inches. It all depends how much DNA you have from midas/ red devils since they carry the "fading" gene.
There is no definitive way to know when they will fade and if they do fade some don't fade all the way. My male flowerhorn has 3 little black spots and its been there for months.
Post a picture of the parents of the fry. For example if both are faders thats a good indication most will fade but not all. Even if one parent is not a fader it may carry the gene to fade so you never know unless you know the lineage behind each fish.

I'm also trying to produce faders. These are the my fish.
I bought my fish mid fade that's the previous owner pictures. Lol
I also have a mystery hybrid got it at 2 inches normal FH colors slightly black but now it's 5 inches and went from normal ZZ to its current color scheme and still changing very weird fish. Got 8 bucks at local petstore what a steal
