The heat must have affected my mind today.. while i was doing my water change, the end of the python that goes to the sink fell off and made a huge mess on the carpet. Wifes not too happy , im tired from soaking up the wet carpet all from carelessness.

In closing, please mind both ends of your hose while doing maintenance.

haha, that reminds me rtf, i had to get an extenion for my python to make it long enough to reach the fish room, well i was filling the tank and i hit the little shut off handle, well i dident know it but water was spraying like crazy in the living room at the joint i hooked the extention onto, lesson leared

Mmmmm fish poo soaked carpet..... Time for tile.

Hubby walked in to getting sprayed while I was cleaning :( (using the bucket method but with longer hose)

Discovered that the hose fits neatly into one side of a binder clip that clips onto an available edge of the bucketso at least it's aiming toward a drainable and cleanable surface!!

For water changes, I use a big 1 1/4" ID siphon hose to siphon water through an open window. I've learned that I have to be careful and watch to make sure no fish swim into the siphon. Last night, my 5-inch fei feng somehow got its head stuck in the siphon. When I pulled it out, one of its eyes was bulging, but it ended up recovering and now looks "normal" again. Another time, I found a dried up 10-inch Polypterus mkelembembe in my front yard. Apparently, it rode the siphon all the way out and lay flopping on the ground until it died. :(
