When doing a water change, always mind the other end of the hose

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Joey, i attach the hose to that only when pumping water back in. I find that it restricts
water flow ( when using a pump ) and takes a bit longer when draining water from the tank.

Eric- Its all good .. the carpet is almost dry. :irked:

I only use it to syphon water out it does restrict the flow somewhat but I find it ok as theres no way for the hose to fall to the floor an drain onto the floor. I actually broke one using it to fill my tanks, Blew the bottom valve right off. I think my house has too much water pressure :lol2: , now I have it setup with two quick disconnects 1 on the faucet an one on the hose so I can switch up fairly quick.

haha, that reminds me rtf, i had to get an extenion for my python to make it long enough to reach the fish room, well i was filling the tank and i hit the little shut off handle, well i dident know it but water was spraying like crazy in the living room at the joint i hooked the extention onto, lesson leared

I did that at work, TWICE. and my boss was an angry midget so it didnt go over too well!

Yeah, I was changing the water in my goldfish tank, and had the gravel cleaner laying on the bottom sucking water out, I looked up to take the filter out and looked back down to find that one of my large goldfish was stuck in the tube, the hose part was sucking his face into it, I quickly pulled the hose up and let him go, but the suction has sucked all his blood supply to his lips, he looked like he had lipstick on. He recovered in a couple of days. My fiance was mad, but all I said was I don't have stupid fish that will swim into the tube like he does. J/K. My fish are too large to get into the tube anyway.
:cool-1:

i put my in a 5 gallon bucket, i hate when i get fish pooh on the carpet, the smell can be bad.

I have done that a time or two or three hell i lost count before i changed my siphoning ways. Here is what i do to prevent that. First off the plastic threaded end that screws on to the sink can not be trusted it gets striped and than you have to spend $5 on a new one. try hooking it up to the sink to get the siphon going and when it is started unscrew it and put a bowl under it and walk it to the back door and throw the other end outside and water your wives flowers with fish water. it keeps the same siphon and and same pressure as if it was hooked up to the sink

when i was a kid we had a 10 gallon with a gold fish in the office room in our house with two the computers towers sitting on the floor, my cat pushed the tank off the table when every one was at work or school. killed the fish, soaked one tower, good thing it wasn't pluged in other wise we would have a dead cat too.
