When Freshwater meat Saltwater

if u slowly acclimate saltwater fish into freshwater, they can be survive. The problem is they growth so slow in freshwater. sorry my engish is bad...

I love how serene he is about the whole thing. Like it's the most natural thing in the world and he's doing nothing wrong.

Give these fish their proper conditions, and if it's too expensive for you, then just don't get saltwater fish in the first place. I'd love to have a tank full of anemones and corals and clownfish and such, but I probably couldn't afford the constant salt all the extra equipment, so instead of forcing fish into a miserable life, I simply don't buy them.

The Groupers can handle it....not that I'd recommend it. I have personally seen guppies with clownfish in a clients tank....its pretty hard on the fishes body. It'll probably shorten their lifespan too.

I don't. I think an asian guy who doesn't know english well has better things to do lol. And you obviously don't know how "well" hydrometers work.

Fish can be slowly drip acclimated to fresh or very low salt concentrations for short periods of time, a couple weeks when done right. It helps with disease.

lol if it works with those species i say go for it, i would be interested to see how they fare in the long run. i generally like to see my "pets" well taken care off. but your right there just fish. to most people there just furniture or food. i used to get mad at this kinda stuff too, then i realized i was being hypocrital as i go fishing.

guppies and mollies are brackish fish. guppies can actually survive in much higher salinity then sea water.

it can be done takes a long time but can.in florida we cant buy fw rays but we can get atlantic rays that live in fw i have caught tarpoon snook sharks redfish rays in fw 20 miles up river it can happen.

I believe the OP stated the setup was for a long period (as opposed to a treatment situation) which made me suspect it was more brackish. *shrugs* Sorry for being a skeptic.

i go fishing to but im not a hypocrite for calling the guy an ass. when i go fishing i hit the fish on the head a quik death and than i eat them, that is there prpose. when i set up a fish tank i than take on the responsibility to give them the best conditions posible. you cant compare fishing to keeping fish as an argument. thay are two diffrant thing. well maybe in 2012 i might eat my fish lol

you forget the whole hook through mouth, and the fishes struggle for its life reeling it in. the best way to do it humanely is probably a casting net or trap if there legal in your area.

the only real reason fishing is still legal is they are viewed as food and not pets. hunting deer or squirrel is legal but as soon as you shoot a feral cat you better be ready for animal cruelty fines, because cats a viewed as pets. perhaps your stance fishing becomes even more blurred if you defend on fishing but not the right to humanely kill other pet type animals in wild.
i too like the best possible environment when setting up a tank for are fish as we see them as pets. but not everybody sees them like that. that he may have only set up the tank to conduct the experiment.
