When is it time for a water change?

I can't believe you wouldn't change the water for you fish , but you buy it food! Water+Food= Healthy fish! I guess you were like f the water at least there eating.

Your fish is living in a toilet.

For me, it's time for a 50% water change every 7 days, and sometimes more. If I am not doing anything, I get the hose out. Fish love clean water. Ask them, they'll tell you it's always time for a water change.

Just because the water is clear doesn't mean there aren't any harmful toxins in the tank.

This is an argument I receive often from customers whose water tests in the "imminent death" levels. Clarity is not necessarily a sign of water quality. I agree with the above poster. You need to be testing your water, and also performing weekly water changes to keep a fish like a LMB.

If you wanna get down to it I change water every 2-3 days..

i dont really agree with the 25-50% bi weekly water changes. maybe monthly or every two months depending on your filtration currently running. it just rubbish

:banhim: IF you have a large tank and a small bio-load, you can do water changes less often. Even with plant filters and denitraters, you should STILL do water changes weekly on a normally stocked tank.
