When to add Prime during WC

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I remember correctly, chlorine poisoning takes at least hours before you notice stuff happening with your fish so you have plenty of time to let it cycle through the tank and all the new water. I just add a squirt of dechlor before I fill it with a hose connected to the sink. When I use prime/stresscoat I add a little more before I fill.

Good to know, thanks

yeah, i just got a new connector for my faucet and bought a water hose (home depo). cost me like 8 bucks as oppose to the 50 bucks they charge you for fancy ones at the pet store.

I feel you on the bucket deal, I'm in the same boat. I can't wait to move in a few weeks and do my tank upgrade, finally having easy water access/changes with a hose! I can't tell you how much my back looks forward to this. No more carrying five 5 gallon buckets out the door, and five more buckets up the basement stairs to refill the tank every week. That's about 400 lbs less work a week. :nilly:

Python? That must be the Iron age.
I'm running through the garden hose
high-pressure WC buuuddy.

Do you hook the other end of that garden hose to the faucet then?

Do you also use that device to siphon water out? How do you prime it, it would take some pretty intense lung power to get that started i'd think.

do you have a link to a DIY page for it

you have picqued my interest.

Anyone have any input on the PH situation?

in my case i use the buckets to syphon out but hose to refill the tank. prime would have to go directly into the tank.

no arm baring to dump the water back into the tank

I have a back door 20 feet from the tank so
it's hooked to the outdoor spicket
Yes you can drain with it too
you can start the siphon easy since the tank is ~5' high
I put a cap of PRIME directly in tank after I siphon and
the rest when it's full as described above
