When to add salt?

I add salt whenever doing a water change. I usually have the salt pre-added but have also put directly into tank with no ill effects.

The only thing that matters in terms of when-to -add,is Dechloriation, obviously to neutralize it before it can burn gill membranes.Salt is not neutralizing any volitile properties of the water so it dosent matter when it goes in.I doubt that the T.D.S. differences of timing the salt addition would harmfully fluctuate either. I only add salt when I need to. I've heard that some of the parasites get resistant to salt if it's constantly used ... but I'm no scientist so I can't guarantee this as a fact.

When I do add salt (for ich or torn fins, usually the latter), I blend the salt with tap water for a few minutes and then pour it straight into the tank.

:D

I use 1 tbsp/5 gal as a habit, I dissovle it in a jug and add it to the water I am adding to the the tank during water changes, for heavier doses as treatments I dissolve it in a pitcher then pour it where the water flow is fastes such as in front of a power head or into the return flow of a filter.
