when to clean the FX5?

I've got a 4 inch turtle in a 90 gallon.

The FX5 only has ceramic rings.
The two 404's have purigen and sponges.

Explain why I need to clean the FX5 every few weeks?

No offense, but the idea of water passing through crud for a year?
How is that a good idea.
Using flow to determine cleaning intervals?

Sounds like hooking my pool pump up to run through the septic tank.
I would start at 2-3 week cleanings, see the condition of the media and amounts of crud trapped.
Nitrate levels would be a pretty good indicator as well.
Canisters are good filters, but they trap the crud, not vaporize it.

wow.. that's so condescending...

anyways.. even after 6 months there's barely any ''crude'' in my filters. i have more then adequate filtration on my 120 + a rather small bio load = not as frequent filter maintenance. basically, it all comes down to how big of a bio load u have and how much filtration is on the tank.

i have to fx5 filters running on my 8 foot tank i clean one after 5 weaks then clean the other after 7 weaks and have had no problems at all do u think this is to much

mines tend to pick up dirt quick, i clean it like once a month haha.. i dunoz why.. i dink i am gona pick up new foam.. my foam are dirty
