thats interesting, and yeah i guess cons, especially smaller cons could still see it as food if they were hungry, i haven't bred cons so have never seen parents or other larger fish go after the food. though i actually used hikari first bites instead of flakes but flakes work fine toothedarkone;4301620; said:

I took sarahs advice and crucshed up some flake really fine, mixed with a lil tank water. and shot a bit over them with a syrenge. I tried to give them crushed flakes earlier but I guess i didnt have it ground fine enough and the mother ate it. She didnt bother this so hopefully it will work, Thnx for all the help, you guys rock.

You have a nice looking pair of Cons, what are your plans for the fry? I keep Cons on and off, right now I just got another pair but I have them in different tanks and I'll keep them that way untill I need feeders, then I'll set them up in a the 20 gallon honeymoon suite. What I did start doing is using Mollys (white sailfins) as dithers in my GT tank 2 males and six females they look nice against the black background and pump out a good supply of larger live babies, so far it's working as planned until the adults become food. Good luck with the spawn and next months spawn and the Sept, Oct, Nov ect ect spawns!
Once they are free swimming make sure you're feeding the parents well of course and then you can feed baby brine and ground up flake as has been suggested. I use a syringe, mix bbrine, flake, and or hikari into fine paste with tank water and then shoot the mixture right into the clutch. It will stay suspended in water and they'll go crazy over it.
