When to know its time to change filters?

I check mine about once a week and if it is dirty then I rinse it off, I only change it when it is beyond hope or I am going away.

My filters don't get changed, they get cleaned.

I use mech in my hobs as well.. and change it when flow becomes restricted. otherwise I don't mess with it.
