when to move fry

just wondering when you guys think i should move my dovii fry to their own tank? they have been free swimming 4 days now. i have a tank already set up for them that i filled with rocks and water out of their current tank.


also, what would be a good asking price for these guys? i am going to give away what i can to people that want them. the rest will be sold or traded for credit a a lfs.

You could remove them now if you wanted. The best technique when this small is to suck them up gently in a gravel vac and have them go straight into a grow-out tank.

Yep. siphon them out into your grow out tank.I like to wait for a while i noticed that they grow faster with the parents..I like to grow out sevral good looking male specimans to about three+ inches, then go to the lfs .great for trading for supplies.food,filter,meds....

ok ill put bout half of them into the grow out tank tonight. ill leave the other half in with the parents for another month or so then move them over also. grow out is only 20L
also i bought hikari daphnia and hbh fry bites. are these ok and what else is good for them.

Thats good,plus i also take pellets and flakes grind them up, i find the more variety i give them the better coloring and growth i get out of them.

the best time to siphon out free swimming fry is after turning the lights off. then when you switch back on, all the fry would be huddled together on one spot and then you can easily siphon them en masse into a bucket. be sure to use about 60% of the old tank water with 40% new/conditioned water.

ok ill make a mix out of all the hikari stuff i got.

i'd used about 15 gallons of old water and 5 of fresh water in the grow out tank

a pleco is the only thing in with them. i did have an senegalus and some loaches but they got moved a few days after the egss were laid.
