when to move fry

mmm i say remove the pleco and enjoy the view?
i don't think there's any harm letting the fry stay with their parents for the next couple of weeks. if you take them all out now there's a chance the pair bond will break up.
what i would do is remove the fry when it becomes apparent that the pair are about the lay another batch.
but in the mean time, what's the rush? sit back and enjoy some classic cichlid parenting behavior.

i might take out some of them like 10-15 just to see how they do in their own tank. i do enjoy watching the parenting and since there is hundreds of them it wont make that big a difference. but the male is getting pretty aggro towards the female. i am thinking it is because he is still young and is just trying to protect the fry from everything.....even her...like he just doesnt know any better.

heh... i say make an egg crate divider just in case.
my male jag went haywire around 1 week after they had fry because i think he wanted to get it on again.
i eventually separated them from then on because of that.

i have a divider on stand by. the male tries to keep the female in the fake log that the eggs were laid in. any time she comes out he tries to push her back in. she is almost twice his size so i dont think he can really hurt her without her fighting back. if it gets bad i will definately seperate but i hope to keep them together.

Yea leave them with the parents and remove the pleco until they are big enough to not get eaten.
