When to pick Monstera fruit?

Likely not the place; however, pond-adjacent monstera with pond-creeping roots has fruit that's been on the plant for at least a year, through drought etc., (before it found the water) and one of the fruit is looking like it's starting to droop/sag - as though it's softening.
Rats, birds, big land snails, roaches etc etc are all also watching this fruit...

So do I leave it until it's totally ripe,
Or do I cut/pick it now to ripen in the kitchen?

Success, and with minimal injury!
It seem that you cut as it gets "full" then ripen in a jar & plastic/paper bag. The drooping one actually dropped off (harvested) and I'll pull/cut the other next weekend'ish.

Very very tasty, as advertised, but the amount you get is a little... not enough in a go, & the temptation in waiting for more to open is problematic/dangerous.
Also I'm a tangy-tart guy - this was "just" sweet & aromatic & interesting & lovely, but left me... unfulfilled. And hungry, particularly as I was waiting for a YEAR.
