When will my RTC start eating my other fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
still, we wanna see a pic of your 50 inch red tail cat.... if this is true its likely to be one of the biggest in captivity

50" is kinda heavy, even if you've got a huge pond, HUUGE

I have only seen one rtc at 50" in captivity, and it was in a way too small aquarium. Seen several that were in the 45" range at the london aqaurium. Would be cool to see a private owner of one over 50". Hopefully in the next 5-10 years my hybrid will break that mark. Oh and ditto on what everyone else said about your tankmates. My tetras in the 10 gal growout are dissappearing as we speak lol. He'll be moved shortly, and into the 1200 gal in a few months. 75 gal until then.

Yes, I understand the situation. I will get the picture up as I never really bothered taking photos of it recently and I've only just actively joined back in this forum again.

My Fibre pond is 2.5 metres long by 1.2 metres wide. It is still a small pond for the fish.

But my fellow mates, here in Jakarta or Indonesia, it is very common for aquarists to keep arapaimas, TSNs, RTCs and any huge fishes in the backyard... I even wonder how these fishes got here at the first place... hehehe so I keep one now myself..

Peace

check out the dallas world aquarium for some big RTCs in their 200000 tank

as soon as they will fit in its mouth.

I think I am going to start looking for someone to take him from me that lives in my area. I do not want to lose any of my fish that I have had for quite some time now.

got a link? Dallas is kinda far to drive from montana. Montana doesn't even have a public aquarium. I've been told that I now have the largest heated indoor body of water used for fish keeping in montana. That's sad! I plan on building a 8-12k gal insulated heated outdoor aquarium in the next few years. That will probably be the largest aquarium in montana. I Have talked to the hatchery program managers around here and the largest tanks they have are like 4,000 gals. That's not even heated or indoors. Guess I'll have to start up the state aquarium lol.
