When you buy tanks do you buy used or new?

This has been made before ,but it's always nice to see what the new people do.

SO when you go and buy a tank do you go to a store and buy brand spankin' new or do you craigslist/buy from others...USED. I don't care if it's a month old and has been filled up once it's considered used unless it's from a retail/tank manufacturer.

I personally buy all used, I don't give a crap if it's new. I can reseal tanks, so unless it's broken glass I'll buy it. lol. I usually shop on Craiglist or find friends who are willing to sell their tanks.

How about everyone else?

I have pretty much bought all used, except I just bought a second hand brand new 125. Still had the wrapping on it.

I almost always buy used. 2/3 of my tanks are used. I can't afford the big new ones...

i like buying new over used when it comes to tanks. i have purchest used and they leaked real bad. i try the reseal but learned fast that its resealing not for me...lol

My 200g and 100g I got used, I couldn't afford them new. The 50g hex I use as a sump I got used too.

5g Eclipse I got new...

Past tanks

125g - used - sold
29g x 2 used - sold
20g x 3 new - sold
10g used - sitting on back porch empty full of snow/ice
55g new - sold
29g x 1 new - gave away
100g tub new - sold
75g used - traded
15g used - 20+ years ago don't remember where it went
3g new - also 20+ years ago
55g new - was in the garage getting resealed and broke it

I think that is all of them...

Probably another 10g in there I'm forgetting.

So for small tanks I buy new if possible but big tanks always used.

It seems for the regular sized tanks...55,75,125,29 or super small tanks like 10's or 20 longs it's easier to buy used. But for the wierd tanks like hex's or corners or BiOrbs or round tanks it's almost always easier to buy new instead of looking for ages for a used one.

i have a 20 g long that i bought new, the rest 30 and 50 used
and soon a 125 or 150 bt also used, cant afford to buy them new
especially with this economy, voted USED
