sometimes its not worth helping i think....?

Well whilst at a mates, and he informed me that he was going to get rid of his Severum (Spotted Red) approx 3" which i thought was a shame untill he informed me it involved clove oil....:irked:

so i couldnt stand by i thought i could save the little severum ( i didnt relise how big it is going to get).... So my current tank is 52" x 22" x 22" about 350ltrs, and my current stock is:

1 male 3" Geo steindachneri and 3 females 1.5" - 2.5"
1 pair of Aspitogramma Cacatoudies male is about 8cm
3 x Hoplo cat fish 2.5"
6 x pencil fish

now im wondering wether i have to get rid of the severum or will it livewith the others without eating them in later life? I know the pencil fish would most probaly go missing, but what about the aspitogramma which is at the moment the undisputed king of the tank.

maybe i shouldnt of helped this little fish.....

Sounds like you may need to buy another tank.Shucks i hate it when that happens to me .
If you cant keep him take him to the lfs for a trade in credit or just give it to them.

It won't eat the ither fish.

he/she will be fine in the tank... no need to get rid of it. they are south americans and lives with most your other fish in the wild..

cheers thanks for the replys, i might as well keep it and see what happens. i assume a single sev is less aggressive than a pair? if thats the case and as long as the tank is big enough i will keep it.

I think you'll be pleased with the outcome. I don't foresee any major issues. The schooling fish will leave the sev alone and the sev will mind it's own business.

Sevs are not very aggressive at all in terms of being a cichlid.

Sevs are pretty peaceful your tank is 52 " long? x 22 x 22" sounds odd. Is is a 75g? 90g? or 1xx? either way I don't see a major issue.
