When your stingray gives birth do you prefer to....

each ray is different i have left the pups in with the adult males and females with no problem

i have also made a egg crate cage and put it over the pups again no problem

i have always thought it was a bad idea to move rays around its best to keep them in the same tank water all the time even preg females

thanks for the advice. the birthing tank is going to be connected to the main system. it will consist of the exact same water as the main tank. its just a nice comfortable place fer her to have her pups with no one to bother her.

Ok so my pups come out as soon as i see them. They are put into a tank that cycles the same water. NOW my females are on their 4th litter i believe, i was going to move the two wolf hounds i have into a 100 gallon stock tank for a month or so. Does that see ok or bad. Hopefully im not highjacking this thread. Thanks for any info.

i like the idea alot! its not feasible for my tank because of the high flow. also, i think the pbass and arrowana would constantly be biting at the bottom of the plexi. you wouldn't believe how strong my largest pbasss are.

i have also used this method but the new pups like the feel of the substrate they can also cover themself if needed

i alsofound that once the pups 1st come out of the cage they seam to hover at the water surface for a few weeks as that what they are used to

its what ever works for you at the end of the day but egg crate is the way to go for sure

I allways move my pups out of the tank into a tank running on th same system. I have lost at least 10 pups over the years to males and females attacking them. Most of my rays will never touch them but there are that few that seem to kill them. I like the eggcrate idea but find it easier to feed and monitor the pups in a seperate tank.
Also after 4 births I would for sure be giving the female a needed break.
T1 did those premature pups make it?
