Jags are cheap over hear when they're young (2"-4"), but anything over that is triple the price. I like ot get fish young. It's fun to raise them from baby to adult, they grow fast, and it's cheaper.

Jags are great cichlids, nice teeth and patterns, love too see them "hunt" feeders on occasion, hope you find one!

I bought a baby Jag about 6 weeks ago and he as almost doubled in size sine then. They grow quickly. I think there is something special about growing out my own fish. then i can say i raised a Monster Fish all by myself

I love our Jags, they are the meanest fish we have, I had a buddy over one day and he convinced me to let them bite me so I reluctently gave in (after a few beers) and let them get me a few times, on the last shot from the Male he drew blood so I said F that and haven't done it since

I agree,i usually like to buy juvies also,but he will be going into a tank with a 9 inch Oscar,so i figure a 5-6 inch Jag should be safe and not end up as lunch for my O.

i always buy small, except for arowanas. i dont buy them with yolks still attached. just get a 2 incher jag, it grows really fast anyway. you wont be able to tell the sexes apart early enough though

why not set beef him up in a small tank before you introduce him to the oscar?
