congrats to all of you. I've never started. The two biggest success stories I know are of my great-grandfather and my friend's dad.

Gramps started smoking when he was 11. He stopped 8 years ago at my grandmother's request at the age of 95.

Friend's dad smoked 2-3 packs a day. One day my friend (was 4-5 at the time) pulled a cigarette out of his dad's mouth. The dad was so mad he slapped my friend down to the floor, and before he hit him again he realized "i'm actually going to hurt my son over a cigarette!" Never smoked again. It's been 17 years
wow both of those are amazing stories, i cant imagine how hard it must be to quit an addiction... good luck to all

took me about 5 weeks to kick the habit after 20 years and 2 packs a day..the patch and tubs and tubs of bubble gum worked for me..really nothing works if you dont REALLY want to quit..i now spend the $10 a day paying for fish food rather than cigarettes..:D

Congrats. It's not easy but doable. You just feel better with each day that passes and the savings just improves all the time too.

Just passed 17 months and counting. :headbang2Just keeps getting easier as the daily savings increases.

good for all of you. the only thing I actually like smoking anymore is Djarum Blacks (cloves), but when I drink, I really wanna smoke...that's about the only time. I've quit on and off for up to 6 months for years. At my worst, I was smoking a pack a week. Quitting smoking is so much easier for me than quitting drinking...I could never do that I don't think. Damn you American Spirit and your free gift certificates. Salem Black Labels are pretty good, too, but thank god we can't get them out here. Talking about this is definitely making me not want to smoke...even my beloved Newports taste bad to me now.
