where can I buy cheaper feeder fish in LA?

where can I buy cheaper feeder fish in LA?
I have 7 catfish and 3 gar,9 of them eat "LIVE" fish only:cry:
anyone can tell me where I can get cheaper feeder fish,thanks a lot.
I can get 10(small) for $1 but they will eat 40 a day:cry:
 
I"m in the same boat with my H. tatauaia. Many LFS are willing to order a large bag directly from their suppliers. Approx 750-1500 guppies/bag (depending on quality ie fancy vs "regulars"). Anywhere from $50-$60 depending where you go. Make sure to talk to the owner of the LFS and not employees. This way you pay 1/3 to 1/2 of what you are paying now. You will need a larger CYCLED quarantine tank......and poower feed. Quarantine min 2 weeks to 4 weeks to reduce chances of transmitting any type of disease.

Yoiu may also consider gtetting a pair of convicts. I am currently trying to get a pair... once you have a pair, they produce fry like crazy. Since you have many fish you feed, 2 pairs would be even better. (in seperate tanks).

Try to get your fish off live. The ONLY fish I have owned that has refused to eat non-live in the past 4 years is a tat I currently own.

Dude, please read the many many threads on "Why not to use GOLD FISH as feeders". Very unhealthy being that they have TONS of fat and high in thiaminase (think I spelled this wrong). :)
 
If your going to feed live do what framcosco said and get a pair of convicts and then you will have a steady supplie of feeders that you know aren't diseased and full of parasites

Your cats should eat nightcrawlers I have a site if your interested to buy them in bulk

I understand my friend, but...breed feeder fish by myself is some kind of dream to me because they really eat a lot... I think I should go buy a pair of convicts, thanks a lot:)
