Wackamole, your not too far from me. Around here people with ponds consider them a nuisance and will gladly let you catch them for pets or the soup kettle. They are probably the second most common species of turtle where I live after the Stinkpot Musk turtle. I know, I know you should go with a captive bred animal but seriously guys, snappers are everywhere. Any permanent body of water, large or small can hold a snapper or two. Your best bet to catch a baby is in the late spring/early summer.
