I have been enthralled with the idea of getting olive colored Oscars ever since seeing pictures of them in an Axelrod book in the late 70s. I've only seen them once in real life, and that was at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, where this picture was taken. Sorry for the quality of the shot, but they never turned around.

There are a wild type, but I've NEVER seen them for sale. Have you?

I have a tiger oscar that changes colors all the time, and to olive frequently. This may simply be a color an oscar shows in a certain mood, not a specific strain of oscar.

Hmmm... they could be a variety of 'Bumblebee' Oscar. If you can get some pics from your ls, that would be great, especially if they're anything like the pic I shared, or even more of a solid Olive would also be cool.

Well the one I have looks the same as the lfs ones. They have a tank of tigers ad a tank of "wild type" they usually have way less "wild type" so I picked him up... I'm still trying to figure out what strain he is... They labeled wild type but I'm not an expert on strain identification. There are no pics allowed and I have good relations with that lfs so I'm not trying to get kicked out lol. But that's mainly what they look like he had the least orange of them all. He only has orange on the tail where the circle is and 2 dots of orange on his body the others in the wild type tank had some orange speckle patterns all over the body

He may have some bb but looking at the fins again they dont look to be as large as the bb oscars I have seen but then again I could be wrong

Sadly I got rid of him. He grew at a phenomenal rate in my 210g. Went from a 2" fish to 11"+ in about six months time. I think if I would have kept him, he would have been one of those 15"-16" Oscars easily. I ended up with a Pearsei instead which is basically a vegetarian Oscar

If by olive, you mean wild type, I saw these in a pond off the highway just south and west of Everglades City FL.

I believe even in Florida, natural selection will have most Oscars revert to natural coloration over time.
