Where can you buy cheap tank dividers?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I buy lighting diffusers (egg crate)from places like Home Depot, and use zip ties to keep them stable.
For cichlids, I find adding horizontal piece a rock can be put on help, and also vertical pieces zipped perpendicularly also add stability

A little notch for the tank rim also adds stability.

Even put them in transfer buckets to keep cichlids from mauling each other in transit.

for fish that will spawn, but often kill each other in the process, they allow fertilization at times, if the spawning surface is close enough.

Exactly what I was looking for! Although I went to Home Depot and 2 coworkers said they don't carry these type of "egg crates". I'll try to find it online. Putting the crate in the bucket for transfer is genius. I wish I done that some time ago. I had a electric blue acara and green terror which were smaller get annihilated by some larger cichlids during a transfer. Thanks for the pics!

I know when I went and got some recently at Home Depot they didn't have it by the lighting department it was in the building department.

Lowes carries it also.

Search egg crate on HD's website, if you have your local store set, it will give you the exact aisle and bay to find it in.

Here’s mine. Cheap acrylic from Lowe’s cut to size. I have suction cup dividers gosling it in but if wedges in it’ll hold on it’s own.

Yup thanks I was able to find it online at Lowe's and HD. I'll do a store pick up option.
I picked up a sheet from Lowe's earlier today......got it home and cut out two dividers for two different tanks.I prefer the eggcrate as long as the fish cannot swim through the holes(which would defeat their purpose lol) to the store bought dividers as I suspect that water flow is slowed down due to the tiny holes of the dividers.
