Where did you buy your RED Severum from?

Only one LFS in my area has them, but the latest shipment got ick and they are quarantined. They will get better and I know it happens with transitioning from shipping at times.
That being said, and them not knowing when they will get a fresh batch, I need to explore.
Google searches aren't giving me much on RED specific.

Please let me know, and I am in Chicago so local is better than paying for $25+ in shipping.

I bought eight 2.5" from All Happy....They developed ich...I treated with 90 temp and salt. All but one made it. They have grown to 7-8" in the past year and are doing well. I bet that this fish happens to be suseptable to ich. gl

YIKES - is it just the reds that are prone or sevs overall?
At $40 a pop, I can't afford to lose it, but I know it comes with the territory of fishkeeping.

Thanks for the Rapps suggestion, I will check him out now.
 
I bought my pair from a buddy if mine. Had ich once and a fin parasite. But made it. Got them both with a 20l tank for 30$
 
None of mine had ich, although one did have bloat and I lost him unfortunately. I've noticed in pictures that some of these red severums appear to be short-bodied and aren't as long and slender as greens or golds. I'm sure this is from heavy inbreeding/line-breeding. A lot of short-bodied fish tend to have issues with things like bloat, IMO. It could also have been totally coincidental.

I don't think they're really any weaker than regular severums if you get them from a good source. Mine were healthy and active from day one. I got them as 2" juveniles. I also keep my tanks warmer though, and I don't even know that ich could survive in them. Maybe that had something to do with it...

So did I and I never had any issues with Ick. Mine is getting huge right now. I have to say this is one of my favorite Severums out of my bunch.
