Where do all the wholesalers sell their stingrays?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If the stingray wholesalers don't want to sell to the average hobbyist or make it near impossible to purchase due to the dollar requirement then where does a person find these AAA+ stingrays for sale? Where do you buy the top top quality black diamonds? Where do you buy the super hybrids? What online vendors or sellers carry these rays with pictures, prices, etc, from the top breeders or importers like Potamotrygon.nl,Top stingray,Belowwater(Canada) just to mention a few. What about all these fancy hybrids, where does one find these for sale? I mean the top quality hybrids that always grace these pages but never seem available to the average hobbyist.

Very frustrating that all we get to see is the pictures without having a real chance at owning these AAA+ quality stingrays.

Acutally it's very frustrating to just find actual lists of any kind of inventory of stingrays with pics and prices.

What's the big secret everyone seems to want to keep why they don't want to post pictures and prices of their entire stock? Kind of like the saltwater section at the lfs, they never post prices of the saltwater fish!!

$1000 is a lot of money in thialand Trevor . The average monthly income is way less than that.
Contact any of the thialand guys. They won't say no to that type of money even if it's just for a pair of rays.

And I don't know if there is even such a thing as black diamond wholesalers . Not to many ppl in the world would be looking for a wholesale amount at once.

Trev the big secret exactly what you're talking about. If your buying wildcaught than it's a different story.
But as for captive bred bd. not many guys in thialand will say no to you sending them a few grand I can guarantee you this.

Go to Asia - Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan; be prepared to spend thousands per ray. You will find what you want.

Exactly- There is not enough wiggle room from wholesale to retail and a ton of risk and cash flow to tie up in keeping an inventory of rays. I know you and Pedro have been going back and forth, but he tells me all the time how tough it is to maintain the stock he has and how slow the turnover is on rays. Think about it, how many people (besides us raycrazies) are walking into a store to drop 1000+ on a fish?

His turnover wouldn't be slow if he promoted them properly. Post a picture of every stingray you have in stock with sex, size and price so people can just look and decide. I know just with myself how much time Nicole put in sending me pictures, prices, etc. Waste of time if someone in the end decides not to buy anything. You would be better off doing what I said so that it's saves the employees time to do more important things like keeping the fish healthy for resale..

Could you imagine if everyone posted their pups for sale in an ad without a picture, sex, size and price to just turn around and have to give every single person that information everytime they inquired on buying them.
Waste of time!!!

Everything would be lost in translation for me unless they were as white as me!! Not to mention I have no connections in that part of the world to even know where to start!!

Considering I have spent at least $15,000 on stingrays already since I started keeping them not to mention all the other money I spent on my other fish , the money thing wouldn't have been the problem as I would have bought less of the common rays and saved for the WOW ray. I don't have the contacts in place and I don't care to just to purchase one ray.It would be nice to see one on a list somewhere with the ability to purchase without involving an importer or without having to always buy in pairs. I was just curious why none of these crazy hybrids are available to the average Joe for purchase here in Canada. Oh, well maybe down the road things may change or I will have to just produce my own.

I wouldn't buy a betta from such a pro bser let alone spend big bucks on a single fish viewed only in pics

Most big breeders all sell wholesale to asia. Good quality bds and super hybrids are going for 10k plus a pair these days
I woulda loves to bring some In but I would just get stuck with them.
The 2 biggest bd breeders I know in Thailand are all sold out all the time now. Even have a waiting list and yearly contracts.

As for pics and price of every rays it's hard when they have so many pups. And they won't care for just a pair to send pics of 20-50 rays pics. Only way is to deal with importers you may pay a higher price tag for more customer service as they would only bring in 5-10pairs at a time.

There is no secret.

Even if they had a nice add with price size and pics I would guarantee they would get asked just as much if not more for more pics. Everyone wants the high dollar rays but they do not want to spend the money. Guys like you are the rare 5% that will spend the money. Everyone else wants to trade a pbass and $100 for a black diamond (:

I got a fully tank worth of bass ready to be traded. And at least mine are some nice quality fish and wild caught. :D. Totally agree, very few people are looking to start out the stingray hobby with 2k in one stingray. In the next couple years though we will have members producing allot of pups in a variety of types and quality. But to get to the next level of the really exotic or interesting rays you are going to have to be devoted and work at it over many years to produce something very special.

Plus people have to remember, just because a specific line produces a very exotic looking or superb looking hybrid or pure bred doesn't mean that those same parents are going to produce something that high quality every litter or 1-2 per litter. When you see that rare specimen such as DW showed doesnt mean they are produced regularly.
Thus another reason you dont often see them. Plus a lot of these hybrids spots break up when reaching large sizes (at least some that I have seen) which at least to me becomes unappealing.
I will keep my average rays, be happy and enjoy them.
