hmm All my cichlids chase each other around I thought it was normal ?
Well they all dont chase each other but it is normal for some of them to do so especially if they dont feel that they have enough space. That could turn out to be the case in the fifty five and your eye biter might be constantly be harrassed, when you find one to put in there.

When was the last time you check with Exotic? I just traded in my eye bitter to Exotic in Sacramento last Friday, and saw them put it in 1 of the top tank in the last row of the afrcan cichlids section. They gave me 2 bucks for trading it in, not sure how much they sell it for.
and if you looking for more Calvus, go to Capital Aquarium in Sacramento, I traded in 2 very nice i.5" black calvus last week. good luck.

Thanks for asking!

Three weekends ago I went to both exotic and capitol aquariums (Not too crazy about capitol they have some very serious issues with filtration and massive fish in tiny tanks) But exotic is where I am exclusively getting my fish from now a days. I am gonna stop in see if I can order one and maybe some more calvus.

Expect to pay $8-10. I saw a school in my LFS (before petco took over) and bought the whole school. Kept them in a 55. Bred all by themselves after about three months. Only ever seen these fish for sale once... hence the reason I bought them immediately and all of them! :D

How were they as pets ?What did you feed the guys ?

They behaved like most other cichlids, except I find them to be very beautiful. Pictures dont do them credit. Some interesting social interactions within the "school". Pregnant individuals didnt hang out with the rest of the fish.

I fed them frozen brine shrimp, and as they got bigger, blood worms.

True about Capitol, I saw most recent they had a 8" gold flowerhorn, and a pair of 13" pbass died in their own tanks.
