where do they go??

thot so lol, wen we first got a ground pond, (old house) are slider somehow got out of the overground pond, and walked about 70ft to the new ground pond (we saw that he had disappeared from the overground pond, and found him there in the new underground)

im talkin about a like 1 1/2in shelled turtle, (the first one to disappear)

A 1.5" turtle? That sounds like a perfect raccoon snack to me. Turtles should not be kept outside unprotected until they are large enough to not be an easy target for predators. Even then, turtles need a very hard to escape from fence to keep them where you want them

yea my two red ear sliders i used to have like 8 years ago got away to they stayed in the house all tha time except sometimes i left them outside and they disappeared one day when i left them out there in a bucket while i went to the store

If newts travel a couple of miles to find a new watering hole, I'm sure it's not problem for a turtle to go for a long wander.

That is the trick I must say that unless you are really luck you lost your turts forever If you plan to have more in the future make shure you reserch on proper turt care (in wich leaving turts in a bucket wile you go away doesant fit) to make sure this or other acidents dont happen. Any doubts you know where to come ask them

we didnt have raccoons in my yard, or possums

im talking about a very lifeless neighborhood i used to live in

the only place i every saw anything that could threaten a baby turtle is the creek, (about a mile away)
