personnally, i bought them from a spa vendor. they pretty much all have parts going from 1/2 to 3 " i think.

Both HD and Lowes..PVC electrical conduit fittings. They have non tapered male and female threaded couplings that glue right up to PVC pipe.
BTW:Standard pipe taps are for cutting tapered threads.

I`ve never used them on a platic tank, but have on pretty much any other thing I could drill a hole into, without problems.
Only reason I can think of would be flex.
Do you need a wider flange for a fitting on plexi bottoms ????
