Usually the chain stores. One has an adoption tank where occasionally you can find something good for cheap. There is one privately owned Lfs nearby but they always seem rude and not very helpful so I don't frequent that place too much. Always watching CL for good buys.

My Istlanums and Grammodes came from Wetspot and my Trimac and Freddys came from Jeff Rapps. The only time I use the box stores or LFS anymore is for food and dither fish if I need them.

TUIC or COA. Been using Jeff for about 15 years and Dan for the past 1.5. Nothing but good things to say about both of them as far as service and quality of their stocks.

I use a mixture of larger chain pet stores and smaller owned LFS.
The reason is simply if they have what I want or not... I don't have a massive tank (120) so I am quite selective of what will go into that tank.

I go to quite a few different LFS places... the farthest is about an hours drive.

My biggest complaint is selection of CA/SA fish here. Almost all petshops/LFS I go to have wall after wall of African selections but a maybe half a wall to a wall maybe of a CA/SA fish... and that gets me rather frustrated.

This is actually a good thing. Most people are clueless of how to care for a fish of this caliber. Most CA Cichlids get to a large size. The pet stores only care about the almighty dollar.

We are lucky here, have a LFS that orders from Conkel and Rapps, and we have one of the better US wholesalers in the area that have even gotten centrals from Wessell stock, and lots of WC stuff. So haven't had to do a mail order yet really.
