where do you get your fish?

All of the above. If there is a great sale on something I want at a big box store and the fish are healthy looking I'll buy there. Otherwise I prefer to support my LFS. If there are fish I want that are not available at my LFS I order online. When I was in an area with an active fish club, I got many fish from auctions and other members. I don't have that option so much now.
 
I get common fish from petsmart, not always so bad and for the most part ok. I prefer my Lfs which has really nice fish and cheaper then Petsmart and wAAAAY healthier, and I buy from local breeders and the like.
 
Freshwater: LFS and locals
Saltwater: Liveaquaria.com and locals

Prices for saltwater at the LFS around here are outrageous, but freshwater has always been reasonable
 
I'll buy from Petsmart for common/on sale fish if healthy, LFS for more choice fish, and a few local fishkeepers like me.
 
Tanks, filters, heaters, etc... Online or second hand. Everywhere else is atleast 2X as expensive.....Although I just saw a LFS in Greenwood selling brand new Marineland 75G's for $75, and I think that's a steal of a deal.

Fish.....LFS, Online Vendors, or other MFKers. And on occasion from the box stores. My GT was $2 at petsmart, and I picked out the best from probably 20 GT's that all looked healthy. So I thought what the heck, I'll experiment to see if he'd turns out as nice as some of the ones I see posted on MFK.....And I have to say, he is turning out to be super awesome. He's at 4" now with a TON of color, and he's super thick and healthy.
