ok thanks i have a new site to look at...lol getting bored staring at one site for like 2 years...liveaquaria.

So far 3 sites down.....

Its kind of a part time job for him... hes a fireman too. the site doesnt have much in the way of live stock, but maybe he can order stuff for you.

Has anybody in colder climates ever ordered fish online during the winter? I keep having visions of fish popsicles waiting for me by the door when I get home from work. By the time I get my tank up and running it'll be freezing in the DC area. I do live within driving distance of "that fish place." Maybe I can get some stuff there.

lol salt or fresh? Btw I think most mfkers live in socal right?

That would be a great poll...."Where Are The Majority Of MFK Members"

Yes, but I was there waiting for them. Well not really...fedex wont ship to my house (I live in the boonies) so I send them to a friends house in the closest town. Then he calls me when they get there (or I stay and wait) and then just take it home when it arrives.

That drives me bonkerz. You have to either be in SE asia or SoCal to buy or do anything on MFK it feels like. SoCal definitely needs their own marketplace section. FS- SOCAL ONLY How many times am I going to have to read that? :irked:

I think there has been a poll in the lounge about the location of MFKers. I do know that Li (the guy who started this whole thing) and a whole bunch of folks (myself included) live in the DC/Baltimore area (Mid-Atlantic region). Not sure where the majority are though.

Man...running a fish lab and having a large personal collection Im fine with FW fishes...I just wish I didnt have to pick them up in socal.

Yes, most companies ship with heat packs. Heat packs need o2 to continue their reaction however, and lots of people ship fish in styro containers sealed with tape...this means the packets run out of o2 and go cold. (Doesnt effect your fish because o2 wise because they are inside the bags) They get heat for however long the o2 lasts. Some people are starting to ventilate their boxes...but as you can imagine thats a vicious cycle.

That being said I have never had a DOA...and most reputable companies give a generous guarantee on their mail order fishes. Fosters and Smith is 2 weeks! The only place that does better than that is walmart. :D
