That's what happened to me. No kids but my wife does like our fish. Especially the oscars.
Thus the new tank in the livingroom!
Its awesome when the other half accepts/joins in on the obsession. Makes her much less angry when i blow all my money at the lfs... like earlier today
On another note they had a PB in that was a decent size today. Kids went nuts over it so i get to scheme for that eventual true monster tank now!
No impulse buys like that for now though.

Just reviving this post a bit. My favorite thread post. Really enjoyed the members input.

3 and 4 for me. I have a 20-ish gallon Heterandria tank in my little library, a 30-ish gallon housing a Musk Turtle in my den, and the rest down in my basement fish room. I used to refer to that as the Man Cave, but nowadays that term has been adopted and perverted by all those goofy "interior designers" that my wife loves to watch on TV, so in an effort to maintain its air of "You do not want to come in here!"...I have taken to calling it my Man Burrow.
I also keep a half-dozen stock tanks outside for about 5 months each year, currently in the process of gradually taking fish outside as the water slowly warms.
